Let's turn it into a space where your family can actually relax and your kids can play. ## Photos and videos - ![I love seeing a large balcony transformed from an empty space into a family's favorite spot. For this home, I created a garden for an amazing mother and her young child. I used a mix of artificial grass for easy maintenance, wooden deck tiles for a warm feel, and a variety of potted plants to bring it all to life. I can just imagine the fun they will have out here.](https://assets.mytribe.in/insecure/raw:1/plain/s3://mytribe-assets-production/2d741275-a0cc-4959-aca4-1f2f08ee9f5d) ## About Balcony & Terrace Makeovers A balcony makeover is not just about throwing down some artificial grass. For this project, I combined easy-to-maintain synthetic turf with modular wooden deck tiles to create a soft, warm play area for a toddler. I always plan for how you will actually use the space, whether it is a quiet coffee spot or a safe zone for your little ones to explore nature. When I start a balcony or terrace project, my first question is always about your lifestyle. Do you want a reading nook, a space for your kids to get their hands dirty, or a spot to host friends? An empty balcony often becomes a storage dumping ground, but with the right layout, it becomes the most utilized room in your house. I focus on durability first. In Chennai’s weather, plants and materials need to handle the sun and monsoon. I typically mix artificial grass, which stays green all year, with interlocking wooden deck tiles that allow for proper drainage and easy cleaning. For those who want more, I integrate weather-resistant swings and vertical trellis walls to add privacy. Budget is always a concern, and I prefer to work within what you have rather than giving a standard rate per square foot. We can start with a minimalist setup, perhaps a few hardy plants and seating, or go for a full garden transformation. Everything I design is intended to be low-maintenance, so you spend your time enjoying the garden, not constantly fixing it. ## About Rosemary Habitat I am the person who believes a garden is about childhood memories and family time.
